Respectively 28 and 30 km from Lucignano, these two cities are famous for their fine wines: Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano.
Montalcino's architecture, dominated by the majestic pentagonal Rocca and its towers, has the mark of Siena.
The Tournament of the opening of the hunting season is held on the second Sunday in August.

The architectural tone of Montepulciano is of Florentine inspiration and from the Renaissance period and makes this city a delightful place to visit, on the high hills between Valdichiana and Valdorcia.
The painter Poliziano was born here, together with illustrious builders, including Michelozzo, Antonio da Sangallo and Vignola.
On 29 August the streets fill with a historical procession in 14th Century costumes and the fun "corsa delle botti" (barrel race).
